The Arnoldstein climbing area is located directly in the center of Arnoldstein, right behind the local kindergarten. This rock face is particularly ideal for beginners to gain their first experience. The short and easy routes invite you to discover the fascination of climbing in a relaxed atmosphere.

Those who enjoy ledge and friction climbing will also be delighted: some routes lead over a vertical wall, which is slightly inclined in places and offers a variety of challenges.

The routes require strength and technique, especially in the higher levels of difficulty. The rock in the Arnoldstein climbing area consists of compact, smooth limestone and offers an exciting mix of ledges and holes - perfect for anyone who wants to train precise grips and footholds.

Due to the nearby kindergarten, climbing is not permitted during school hours between 12:00 and 14:00!

After a short hike from the starting point at the Baumgartnerhof panorama restaurant, you reach the slightly challenging via ferrata at the Rotschitza waterfall - an adventure that is only recommended for experienced climbers. The climb is 350 meters long and covers a height difference of around 290 meters. The entrance is on the left bank, right at the foot of the impressive waterfall.

The Climbing Centre in Villach offers great opportunities for climbing. With an area of 2,000 m² and 9,500 holds, it is the largest climbing centre in the Alpe-Adria region. The outdoor climbing wall with integrated LED lighting, which forms a 16 m high ‘V’ for Villach, makes this climbing centre so special. The wall offers an outdoor climbing surface of 320 m² with a 3.5 m overhang.

The rock face of Peterlewand near St Urban, unassuming from a distance, lies hidden in the landscape. During the time of the Counter-Reformation, Peterlewand was a strategically important location. It is described in Gustav Renker’s novel, ‘People Without a Homeland’. The first climbing routes were established around 1988 by a 16 to 18-year-old student from Bodensdorf.

With routes up to 7.5 m high and difficulty levels from 4 to 7b, both beginners and advanced climbers will find the right challenge here. In addition to hydraulically adjustable walls and a tiltable children's climbing wall, visitors can expect various overhanging climbing areas, a challenging roof climbing area and panoramic climbing areas.
