Alpe-Adria-Trail
Hiking in paradise. Dear Adam, dear Eve: yours could not have been more beautiful. We can only tell you that it is paradise on earth – hiking on the impressive long-distance hiking trail, the Alpe-Adria-Trail. The name says it all. 750 fascinating kilometres run from Austria's highest mountain, Großglockner, to Muggia by the Adriatic Sea. A total of 44 interesting stages lead through the three regions of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia and of course through the distinctive Villach region.
Towards the sun. Leisurely hikers march at the heart of Carinthia over Wöllaner Nock in Arriach to the sunny peak of Gerlitzen Alpe. From there the trail continues through shady forests to the historical Stift Ossiach by the charming Lake Ossiacher See. There is a brief detour to the chic Velden am Wörthersee, then the path leads along the Drau cycle path to the Caribbean-green Lake Faaker See. After gazing from Baumgartnerhöhe towards the Villach region, it continues towards Kranjska Gora in Slovenia and on to the Adriatic.
Alpe-Adria-Trail circuit. The Villach region is the starting point for the unique short variation of the Alpe-Adria-Trail, which leads 130 kilometres in seven day stages through Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Gathering countless moments of happiness, adventures, natural spectacles, enjoyment and a joy of life along the way. Are you in the mood for the premier class of long-distance hiking trails?
