For those who need more than a one-day hike to leave behind the stresses of daily life, or for those who simply would like to spend several days in nature, a long-distance hike is perfect. Hiking tours lasting several days over longer distances offer tranquillity and above all – immersion in nature. The journey becomes the destination!

In the Region Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See, the Alpe Adria Trail (from the Grossglockner mountain to the Adriatic Sea), the Julius-Kugy Three-Country Trail (Southern Alps Circuit: Carinthia, Slovenia and Italy in 30 stages) and the Southern Alps Panorama Trail are three cross-border multi-day tours in the repertoire. The words ‘highly recommended’ also apply to the Dobratsch circuit, which encompasses several different natural and cultural landscapes in the Dobratsch Nature Park. Pilgrimage paths also invite you to slow down and reflect.

Alpe-Adria-Trail

Hiking in paradise. Dear Adam, dear Eve: yours could not have been more beautiful. We can only tell you that it is paradise on earth – hiking on the impressive long-distance hiking trail, the Alpe-Adria-Trail. The name says it all. 750 fascinating kilometres run from Austria's highest mountain, Großglockner, to Muggia by the Adriatic Sea. A total of 44 interesting stages lead through the three regions of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia and of course through the distinctive Villach region.

Dobratsch circular route

The circuit, which is anticlockwise and therefore against everyday stress leading all the way around the mountain, reveals the unique wealth of the nature park region to the hiker. At the intersection of three cultures, Dobratsch is surrounded by a vibrant valley landscape, whose particular character and atmosphere are best experienced while walking.

Panorama Trail Southern Alps

The Panorama Trail Southern Alps long-distance hiking trail focuses on a mountain range that was previously known as an insider tip. With a Mediterranean influence, it leads over 20 stages and 286 km through beautiful vacation regions.

Pilgrimage in the Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See region

Like scarcely any other region, the landscape around Villach, lake Faaker See and lake Ossiacher See presents itself as a wonderful oasis, offering not only the body but also the soul the necessary nourishment. Four popular pilgrimage routes - the Way of the Book, the Marian Pilgrimage Route, the Way of St. James and the Hemma Pilgrimage Route lead through our region. In addition, there are many other spiritual hiking trails in the middle of the lake landscape with plenty of Alpine-Adriatic flair and especially many hours of sunshine.

Julius Kugy Alpine Trail

Discover the fascinating beauty of the Alpe-Adria-region on the Julius Kugy Alpine Trail. This 720 kilometre long-distance hiking trail connects Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia and leads through impressive low mountain, montane and high mountain landscapes. The route invites you to enjoy the quiet beauty of the Alps - from secluded mountain huts to lively little towns.
