With over 60 huts, many events and lots of art and culinary delights, our visitors will be in the mood for the upcoming Christmas festivities. The Christkindl post office, a choo-choo train, a petting zoo and the ice rink in front of the town hall await younger guests. A special highlight: the Christmas photo point rally, where original souvenir photos are guaranteed - and there's even a little surprise at the end.

Bergmann's Advent in Bad Bleiberg
St. Barbara, patron saint of miners, celebrates her name day on December 4th. It was and is customary in Bad Bleiberg to celebrate this day with honor. Lighting a Barbara candle and the cutting of cherry branches mark the beginning of the "Bad Bleiberg Bergmannsadvent" in Bad Bleiberg.

Christmas tree diving
A quiet, touching Advent tradition: the water rescue service commemorates all those who lost their lives in the water at several lakes around Villach - such as lake Aichwaldsee, lake Faaker See, lake Silbersee and in Sattendorf on lake Ossiacher See. In a festive atmosphere, a decorated tree is taken out of the lake, accompanied by lights, mulled wine and contemplative moments on the shore. A moving tradition that has been bringing people together for many years.
Farmer's Advent in Villach
A magical moment in the run-up to Christmas: every year shortly before Christmas, the Christ Child, his angels and the Three Wise Men come to Villach by boat on the Drau. On the festively illuminated Drau terraces, visitors young and old welcome them with lanterns, the sound of bells and singing - an atmospheric experience that makes the anticipation of Christmas palpable in a very special way.
