The first section of the route up to the Bertahütte is certainly a quieter option for getting closer to the summit of the Ferlacher Spitze. However, the physical and technical demands should not be underestimated.

Alternatively, coming from Villach or from the Rosental, take the B85 (Rosentalstraße) to Unteraichwald and turn off at the Hotel Mittagskogel onto Kopeiner Straße. At the Kopein junction, turn left towards Gasthof Sticker.
